Hudson Valley Rail Trail
New section from Commercial Ave in Highland village to the Walkway is complete and exceptionally lovely. Entire railtrail is paved, perfect for Walking, running, wheelchairs, rollerblades, bikes, and cross country skiing. Beautiful views. Older section of Rail Trail even has exercise stations and rest rooms! Ten mile round-trip all paved. Good parking at Rotary Pavilion on Old New Paltz Rd., and just west of Walkway entrance in new lots. Highland has the best parking for the Walkway and railtrail. All but a few spots are free and the turnover is fast. Once you are in Highland, there is a self guided walking tour of the village with historic photos/postcards in shop windows and good restaurants, Sal's, The Main Street Cafe, and Vigneto's, all in the quaint village.
