Milagros in Tivoli continues to expand
its hours and activities. In late fall owner Pamela Morin began
showcasing her Indian specialties-from Shrimp Curry to Vegetable
Jalfrezi, to Lamb Korma and Tikka Masala-Friday and Saturday nights
from 5 to 9. For those patrons who are not in the mood for Indian
food she offers a good piece of steak (with chutney if desired),
fresh vegetabls from the Hudson, or an interesting piece of fish.
Meanwhile the hall upstairs in the old church is getting a workout
as a place for celebrations, and in December will become the theater
space for the Cocoon Theatre's Greatest Christmas Pageant Ever.
In response to the recession and customer
demand, Meri Puccio of Julia & Isabella is putting more and
more "comfort food" on her daily menu: pot roast, fish
& chips, turkey pot pies made fromfree-range Northwind Farm
birds. . . and keeping the price of entrees between $9.95 and $11.95.
Daniel Gendron of Gendron Catering
has started offering weekly home delivery of nutritious home-cooked
meals to shut-ins, seniors, busy people, and the homebound. What
could be more appropriate this particular winter?
A couple of oldtime country establishemnts
that had been closed recently re-opened for business: the Quail
Hollow Inn, off the Taconic parkway on Hibernia road, is now open
for business as a French Country restaurant Wednesday through Sunday
from 5pm. And the Bangall Counry Store has reopened after a few
months's shutdown, and is now open Fridays and Saturdays until 8pm.
Finally, if you like sushi, don't
forget to stop in at the new sushi joint in the Harsdscrabble Mall,
Hana Sushi, which has already become the hangout of several AboutTown
denizens.
